Type O Negative: World Coming Down 12"

Type O Negative: World Coming Down 12"

Brooding dark-rock icons Type O Negative's groundbreaking early records - like their 1990 debut, Slow, Deep And Hard, the platinum Bloody Kisses and the gold-selling October Rust - displayed a sonic Venn Diagram where metal, goth and electro/industrial scenes forged a commonality that was fresh and engaging. The Brooklyn, NY outfit's singular menace, noise, darkness and catharsis would continue to influence for another decade plus until vocalist, bassist, and principal songwriter Peter Steele's death in 2010.

1999's World Coming Down was TON's first album to reach the Top 40 on the Billboard 200 chart and exhibits more of their signature sound with Steele's dramatic baritone singing tongue-in-cheek lyrics about death and despair over electronic chaos and bottom-heavy guitars. However, Steele also allows listeners to see through the veneer here with autobiographical material about drug addiction ("White Slaver"), the death of loved ones ("Everyone I Love Is Dead" and "Everything Dies") and mental illness ("Who Will Save the Sane?"). The record ends with a Beatles medley of "Day Tripper," "If I Needed Someone" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)."

Although World Coming Down was included on vinyl in the None More Negative 12LP box set, this is the first time it will be getting its own worldwide stand-alone release on wax; courtesy of Roadrunner and Run Out Groove. It's been newly remastered for maximum fidelity and comes pressed on colored 180g 2LP with gatefold tip-on style jacket packaging and an exclusive poster!
