Cult Objects: Amulet 12"
When Cult Objects first sent me this record they said their mission statement was "to make a scrappy post punk record from 1982 that, if played next to ESG or Bush Tetras, would sound like they were recorded in the same studio weeks apart", and I think they nailed it!
They perfectly dialed in that raw early 80s post-punk sound while maintaining the pop-oriented sensibilities to make a truly powerful and explosive record. From dissonant guitars, to haunting and distinct vocals, grooving bass lines and multifaceted drums, I hear Amulet by Cult Objects as a Mid-Atlantic contemporary equal to Siouxsie and the Banshees, Blondie, or The Slits.
- Format Type: 12"
- Genre: post-punk
- Year: 2026
